We know that when we programmed the RSTDISBL fuse bit on an AVR microcontroller, we lose the ability to program the chip with SPI mode. If you need to get it back you must program your AVR microctroller with High Voltage Parallel Programming Mode only. There are many HV AVR programmer projects on the net(eg. HVProg, ATSTK500). But, if you using Arduino here is a great project using Arduino as a HV AVR programmer. [link]

    There has been so much interest in this circuit that I made a kit based on the original design, but with several big improvements. The kit includes a 5V->12V step up converter so you don’t need a separate 12V supply. You can learn more about it here:
